The human spirit is not dead. It lives on in secret. It has come to believe that compassion, in which all ethics must take root, can only attain its full breadth and depth if it embraces all living creatures and does not limit itself to mankind. ~Albert Schweitzer, Nobel Peace Prize address, “The Problem of Peace in the World Today”

7am-Rise and Shine!  Get the Fair Trade coffee brewing and help see my teenager out by 8am (yes, it takes an hour!)  My two cats want in and out for almost the whole hour, and I fill their dishes with fresh food and water in the meantime.  My frogs get fed at this time also.

8am-When I am not rushed, I begin cooking organic oatmeal, cut fresh fruit, and toast.  I dress cooked oatmeal in lots of soy milk (Natura is my favorite), a wee bit of organic sugar, fruit, maple granola and presto!  It's most delicious served with coffee and toast and takes a half hour to eat.  It also keeps me full for about six hours.
When in a hurry, I toast a cinnamon raisin (or any flavor) bagel and spread peanut butter on each, topping it off with sliced banana and maple granola...with coffee, of course!  Both meals are deliciously simple but feel and look gourmet.  While eating, I read the paper or edit endless essays.

9-ish am-Shower with LUSH or Jason hair products and soaps, which smell divine.  I brush my teeth with either Jason cinnamon whitening paste or our favorite, Kiss My Face Aloe Tooth Gel.  Apply Face Drink skin cream by LUSH and apply Beauty Without Cruelty eye makeup and some AVON or Revlon products also.  I use Abba hair gel to style my hair, get dressed for the weather and if there's time, I read more school material until I get my bus.

9:45am OR 11am-Bus to school.  Find a quiet corner and force myself to study French or other pressing school material.  Classes are from between

10am-4pm almost every day.  I always carry a large bottle of water with me to class.

3:30-4pm- Bus home.  If groceries are needed, I get off early and shop at either the Super Store or at Planet Organic (I usually plan meals days in advance so my grocery shopping is done in bulk once a week).  Check phone messages and sort mail, begin supper and sit to eat by 6pm.

6pm-Supper meals are virtually endless in variety....tofu and veggie teriyaki stir-fry's with basmati rice, baked tofu wraps and garden salad with poppy seed dressing, tofurkey slice subs with lettuce and homemade cranberry sauce, homemade lentil and barley soup, scramble veggie and tofu with mango salsa and pita, rice pasta spirals with organic tomato sauce, brushetta baguette and hummus on the side with dolmas (stuffed vine leaves), tofurkey sausages and homemade French toast with fresh fruit and maple syrup, hummus and veggie sandwiches, salsa and bean dip with organic blue corn chips, etc.  Desserts are usually store bought (unless I have time to make them) such as flax-snax (at Super Store), ginger cookies, So Decadent soy cream in chocolate brownie chunk, etc.

7-8pm-Clean up supper dishes and compost.  I try to spend a half hour with my teenager before we're off doing our homework for the next little while (or reply to messages online, ASAP agenda, or other needs).

10pm-Sometimes I have a bowl of cereal before bed if I know I'll be up for another couple of hours, like Raisin Bran or Weetabix.  Mostly, I just like to get to bed by 11pm.

11pm-On a perfect day, I'm in bed by now!  Tomorrow, we get to do it all again.
